Milan - October 21, 2014

La Camera Nazionale Della Moda Italiana (National Chamber of Commerce for Italian Fashion), the Korea Fashion Association and KOTRA (Korean Trade Investment Promotion Agency) have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at promoting business missions and a constant exchange of strategic information in order to enhance fashion businesses and industries. Signatories to the memorandum were the General Commissioner of Invest Korea, Han Ki-won, the President of the Korea Fashion Association, Won Daeyun, and the President of Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, Mario Boselli. Speaking of the agreement, Boselli stated that all the partners are “satisfied with this important memorandum as a means to build a strong connection between the Italian and Korean fashion industries”.

The agreement was signed in Milan during the 10th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) summit held on 16-17 October 2014, representing a key opportunity for the strengthening of ties between 51 Asian and European partners and political leaders, meeting here in Milan, including the South Korean president, Park Geun-hye.

Among the commercial agreements is one dealing with SMEs, signed by KOTRA’s CEO and President, Oh Young Ho, and the President of the Confartigianato association, Giorgio Merletti, as a means to support globally Italian and Korean startups and SMEs. The agreement is to be followed by promotional activities, regular business missions and an analysis of both countries’ industrial districts. Moreover the agreement lays the foundations for the building of a system for training Korean students and trainers about the production system used by Italian SMEs and innovative sectors such as design and mechanics, in order to promote Italian and Korean SMEs reciprocally.
