Sommelier and cheese-taster, Mimma (Maria Immacolata) Coppola has been working for more than twenty years in the Food and Wine sector as a technical consultant, dealing with the organisation of study programmes and events destined to Japanese customers (companies and private customers).

She obtained an AIS (Associazione Italiana Sommelier [Italian Sommelier Association]) qualification and the Master of Food in Beer (awarded by Slow Food), in addition to attending seminars aimed at increasing her knowledge on cheeses and their combination with food. She has been continuously studying the correct combination of food and wines, driven by insatiable curiosity and genuine passion. All the above brought her to specialise more and more, allowing her to support workers in the industry who want to include Italian Wine & Food in their business.

Starting from the customers' ideas, by listening carefully to their needs and exchanging a lot of information, a customised project is designed, which can include looking for suppliers or partners in Italy, providing consultancy for opening a business in the catering sector, preparing a wine list with the most suitable varieties for the dishes on offer, organising and coordinating business trips and company tours.

She is currently the vice Chairman of the Lombardy delegation of the Fondazione Italiana Sommelier, Centro di Cultura del Vino e dell'Olio [Italian Sommelier Foundation, Cultural Centre for Wine and Oil]. Her activities include training, spreading information and organising events in the sector, dealing with guided tasting sessions or seminars for companies, consortiums and institutional bodies. She also organises company training courses.

A degree in Japanese language, a specialisation diploma from a post-graduate course in International Business (“COR.C.E.”), with a focus on Eastern Markets, offered by Italian Trade Agency (“ICE”) and her professional experience gained in Japanese multinational companies and other companies that are very active in foreign markets are the foundation on which she built her newer skills and abilities.
